This quote is on my desk at home: I learned this....that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours....In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness....Henry David Thoreau
"Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry." Or one of my favorite quotes by Shakespeare: "And though she be but little, she is fierce." I have the little part taken care of but now I want to be fierce.
1. Dear Stomach, You're bored, not hungry. So shut up. 2. "I just like to smile, smilings my favorite" - Buddy the Elf. 3. "Go sell crazy someplace else, I'm all stocked up here"
I like this one, and I have found, in my life experiences, that it is sooo true!
“I’ve failed over & over & over again in my life & that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
It is especially true for this challenge...I have tried for 8 years now to lose this weight, and i would give Miki and Sara a million bucks if I had it (well, maybe I would pay off my house first, and then split the rest 3 ways) for teaching me #1 the right tools of nutrition for weight loss, and #2 what it takes physically to get in shape. I would have never thought I was capable physically to do what i've done these last 2 week ...and, mostly because of the example of fellow nutrifitters and their encouragement..I have been able to do it! (and lots of 800mg Ibuprofen) :)
I have a lot!! but some faves.. -Life isn't about waiting for the end of the storm...it's about learning to dance in the rain. :) -Do it with passion or not at all -President Hinckley, "...things will work out."
-"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard"-Tim Notke -Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate. -What you see is what you get. -Attitude is a decision. -Do not make assumptions unless you have the whole story. If in doubt, ask the person directly. -Those who are the hardest to love need it the most. -Sometimes I look forward to going to bed at night because I know that when I wake up I get coffee. ;)
Part of one of my favorites: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? Marianne Williamson Nelson Mandela
I have a couple... 1- I don't need easy. I just need possible
2- (I often tell myself this while working out, but could pertain to many other situations) I am strong. I get stronger with every step. Don't stop. I'm doing what other people wish they could be doing. Keep going.
3- when you feel like quitting, think about why you started
When I was training for my first marathon, my avid marathoner friend gave me the following advice, which I think is applicable to life: When the run (or life) gets difficult, keep your head up.
Well, I hope this doesn't sound too religious, but, my motto is: "always search for truth and do what is right"
